Champions! 16U Elite Legionaires dominant at Michigan tournament
Pitching, hitting and speed on the basepaths all added up to the perfect weekend for the Oshawa Legionaires 16U Elite team as they won the Pastime Great Lakes Freedom Classic at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
In the July 7 championship game against the Hawks, Tyson Lewis pitched a complete-game gem to lead the Legionaires to a 4-2 win and the title. Lewis gave up six hits, struck out 5, walked on 1, and just one earned run.
Oshawa had 7 hitters with a .385 batting average. On the base paths, Oshawa swiped 16 bases.
The pitchers kept pace, as Oshawa gave up just 3 runs in the 5 tournament games, including 3 shutouts, to go 5-0.
Next up for the Legionaires is the New England Select Pastime Tournament at Boson College from July 11-14.
